Time Of Use

I wanted to bring light on this program I've found great! When Hubby and I moved into this beautiful, somewhat large, home a few years ago we were ecstatic! Not only was it big enough for all 6 to each have their own little area it had A/C!! In the desert here the usual was swamp. And ugh is that horrible during the monsoons! The temps ranging anywhere from nice to "even the devil ain't stopping!" The majority being the latter.

We have two living rooms, two baths, four bedrooms, very large kitchen, an office and laundry room so cooling this place is no easy task! Our electric bill ranged from $150 in winter to well over $200 in summer and maybe once over $300. But, when we began this "lessen our mark" journey, we replaced all bulbs in the house with those 'soft serve' looking ones and installed solar lighting all outside and thought there's gotta be more we can do! There was! Its called the time-of-use program with our electric cooperative.

Basically your charged .096 per kilowatt hour on regular service. With TOU your charged .041 pkh on any electricity you use during "off-peak". Which in the summer (Ap 1- Oct 31) is from 9pm-1pm. Plus all holidays and weekends are "off-peak" as well. "On-peak" it's .12pkh. During Nov1- Mar 31 the "off-peak" is 10-6 both am/pm.

Now, since it's too dang hot to go all day with no A/C at all what I do is save all laundry/dishes/ showers for the off peak times and anything else that takes a lot of electricity and keep the temp at 78. Last summer we hardly used the A/C "on-peak". Anytime it'd get too hot, me and the kids would just jump into the pool! Sadly this year it's not looking like will be able to do that, the kids cut the liner about a foot long multiple times.. I swear I have no idea what goes thru their heads! And we are NOT buying another one of those"disposable" pools from Wal-Mart again... $400 and its really only good a couple of summers. We want to save for a 'real' one. Back on point... we haven't had a bill over $100 since!

So if your have a electric company that offers it, I say give it a try because not only did we save a bunch I find us using a lot less!

What The Hell Was He Thinking??

Aprils almost at an end and do you know whats coming up??? You better know! It's our day Whoo Hoo! I don't have many male readers but nevertheless, I'm posting a "what the hell was he thinking post."

After all we ladies do for our men and kids...

-the months of being uncomfortable and clumsy,
-the hours of childbirth,
-the years of never-ending laundry,
-being peed on, (those boys I swear aim right for the face but then cant hit a toliet?)
-the hemmoroids,
-the stretch marks,
-baby proofing,
-the screaming and crying,
-multi-middle-of-the-night wake up calls,
-breast feeding,
-fixing up broken toys & broken hearts,
-the thousands of band aids and neosporin
-the trips to the dr's to remove something you still can't figure out how they got it in there let alone why??

After all this and much much more we are rewarded for our hardwork with a day...One measley 24 hour period.

But we're gratful nonetheless. And boy do I look forward to it!

So why do guys notoriously mess this day up?? My Hubby's great about "my" days but there have been times I've ask "What the hell were you thinking?? This is MY day not YOURS"

Here's some Dontcha even think about it!

10. Don't take us to the lake to fish save that for your day
09. Don't buy a cheap-last-minute-make-no-sense-pertaining-to-us card! We're not old people sitting on a bench!
08. Don't buy those cheesy little off the street bouquets on your way home, buy my favorite flowers
07. Don't buy the mothers ring that was on "sale". Put out the extra dough for our kids birth stones (if ya don't know.. ask)
06. Save the "Greatest Mom in the World" cup for your kids to give. I'm not your Mom.
05. Don't take me to your favorite resturant. Save the Hooters trip for your day
04. A gun safe really isn't a good Mothers Day gift. Yes it's keeps the kids safer but this is MY day. Momma don't want no gun safe!
03. Don't leave the kids with me all day. Yes, I became of Mother because of them but don't mean I wanna spend the whole day with em
02. Don't not wake me up before 9am unless you have breakfast in bed planned. My day. I sleep in.
01. Don't forget the day! Write it on a post it and glue it to your forehead if thats what it takes. Put this day: May 10 in your blackberry. Have a friend remind you. Unless that friend is a man then your just screwed.

A Chicken of a Different Color

This spring I found the cutest little chicks. They were vividly colored blue, orange, yellow, green. Like someone dipped them in Kool-Aid. I had never seen such a sight! I asked the man if he turned them these colors, thinking thats a lil inhumane to do to a 2 day old chick just to get them sold. But, happily they came this way! I call myself "The Chickenista" but there is soo much I need to learn before I can earn that title. Apparently these are leghorns that only start out colored then become plain ol' white.. I can't find anything on the web about these fun little chicks, and the guys no longer there. I knew I should of picked some of these up when I had the chance! I'm thinking about posting on Craigs List. Now that place has a lot of goodies! Anything you could ever want or need!

Another note..... My geese eggs have really started to go down in daily count. Total is maybe I get a couple a day. In AZ we really don't have a "Springtime", mid to upper 90's, the hens slow down a bit too. I'm pulling out about 10/day now from them. I really need the newbies to crank em out for me! But I probably won't see any from them til July or August. How am I soppose to fry chicken with out my eggs??

Got Seeds? We Finally Do!

I know I'm running way behind on this. So many blogs have already posted sprouts and more! But like I said in one of my February posts we had a lot going on. But most of that is done the kids playhouse is just needing paper and shingles now. Phew! Then they can start paying rent!

But, now that thats all done we can concentrate on making sure our garden completly varmit proof! Probably not completely but I can hope. I really need to know how others do it, last year we lost the entire garden then replanted then lost...etc. It was always at night or the early morning, because by the time I got out there to water in the morning they'd been muched on. I never saw anything. No holes in the garden, so whatever it was climbed over the fence. Also, they chomped on our apple, peach, orange, lemon and lime trees leaves and bark? They like variety I guess. We're a buffet for whatever it is. Little half moons on the leaves the size of a quarter is how it started.... Whats that a harvest ant? Not sure. But also the stalks were eaten so maybe its a combo of things.

In an effort to keep things safe and organic and CHEAP, if you have ideas let me know please. It gets so frustrating. We've tried everything!

Anywhoooo..... after buying the seeds, reading, and drawing up my little pretend garden on paper with measurements. I've come to find out our garden is about 10 feet too short... Hmmmm.. Time to get Hubby out there again! This may take more than a "pllleeeaasseee"!

Gay Friendly Entrecard

I saw this on Mummy Diaries

Apparently there are some bloggers on EC that are not accepting ads containing the word "gay" in them nor dropping back.

I understand it's those bloggers choice on who they accept on their page, but isn't this a dumb reason?? I thought so! So, in support of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, trans-gendered bloggers out there I post this and welcome.

I had the pleasure of reading Gay Dads in Munchkin Land . Johns journal of his wonderful husband and their sons. And It's Daddies Plural with Paul and Chris who became daddies on Christmas!

I feel sorry for those who can not open their minds a lil.. These are just some of the great blogs they're missing out on... And by the way they actually have the same parenting mishaps and achievements as us straight folks! GASP!

On another note...I'm tired of hearing that this is their "lifestyle choice". You always hear that from people (who obviously never met a gay person), "Well it's their lifestyle choice". This was never their choice, it's just who they are. Just as the color God blessed you with is who you are. No one would choose a road so rough. With judgement and snide remarks at every turn. Threats. Physical and emotional abuse. Some have died for who they are. So, no I don't agree with the phrase "lifestyle choice".

Seriously WTF??

There is so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to begin....

I'm talking about the Apple App "Baby Shaker". Yea sounds fun don't it....
Game is: Baby cries, you shake your iphone til "x"'s appears in the babies eyes????? Wow, how this was ok'd by any human being is beyond me... I'd love to meet that giant ass.

ReadChicago Tribune
"On a plane, on the bus, in a theater. Babies are everywhere you don't want them to be! They're always distracting you from preparing for that big presentation at work with their incessant crying. Before Baby Shaker there was nothing you could do about it," the app's introduction read.

So for 99 cents you can shake your troubles away.....?

Of course many complaints were made and they have removed the app. But it was already downloaded to many iphones.

I was just appalled at the whole thing. Who'd think this was fun to play?

I'd like to know did this sick bastard have kids?? As a parent I'm shocked anyone would even give APPLE business now.. This wasn't just poor judgement it was a complete and utter fuck up.... Whats next rape little Timmie? Push the old lady down the stairs?? Great now I've given them ideas. Am I missing something here, is this what passes for entertainment?? Because people did download it...Maybe I've been out here in the sticks too long.
What ever happened to Donkey Kong, Frogger, Pac man ..

Tell Me Oh Wise Bellybutton

You Are Doted On

You are sweet, sensitive, and a bit anxious. You are likely to have some health problems.
(Atleast it lead into it nicely.)

It's likely that you will have four or more children... whether you use birth control or not!
(Right on bellybutton I have 4!)

You are not easily moved. You are very stoic and not thought of as an emotional person.
(Huh? Screw you bellybutton! I'm very freakin emotional!)

You are very detail oriented and tidy. Some may even call you obsessive.
(Not at all, my piles of paper have piles)

You are a dreamer who always explores possibilities. Even if you would never do something, you like to fantasize about it. (So wise)

And Sew It Begins

I just love writing corny headlines! As you can tell I've started sewing the spring/summer clothes. I've come down with the "Sew in Love" bug!

I began sewing again when we decided to live basic. A little over a year ago. Growing up my mom made us clothes on occassion and taught us young! We'd make clothes for our dolls or barbies, hair accessories little stuff. We had a blast! But like most things you love as a child you eventually move on and stop doing. But I always knew I would start up again when I had a little girl.

I just love shopping for material. It's your chance to get creative and a little daring!! Having a daughter just brings this outta me. She's my little doll and she just loves playing in her new clothes!

I went ahead and let the boys pick out their own material. I want to do a sew class with them just to teach them the basics. Measuring each other, reading a pattern etc. Last year we did pillows and man did they have fun!

Here's what the boys picked out:

Anthony chose this because we're taking the boat out for Cinco de Mayo and he loves fishing with his Dad. So these will become his fishing shorts he says! He wants to make a matching fishing hat with it too..... They have way more confidence in me than they should I don't even know where to begin a fishing hat??? We shall search and find out I guess....

This is Cody's choice......Why??? Hmmm good question I think he was just in a hurry to get outta there.. and he loves dogs.

This is Wyatts..... Need I say more, every little toddler boy loves McQueen. We watch NASCAR and he patiently waits for Speed to come out.

And finally Caties I chose it because its soo dang cute!

These are what I've done so far.....

Isn't she sooo cute! Look at her face in that first one. LOL a model she is not! She hates standing still for pictures.. Mommas sorry baby!

Where The Hell Did You Come From?

And what the hell happened to you two???

Yes, it's gonna be one of those posts.

Every girl over the age of 30, I'd say, knows damn well you don't go starring straight into a mirror first thing in the morning! You just don't. Morning light plus just waking up equals a bad start. Theres a certain regimine you must follow!

You find things you never seen before.... some things have moved! Its just all around a bad idea!

So what the H-E-Double sippy straws was I thinking this morning?

It always starts out harmless enough. You glance up... but your eyes lock on to something. That makes you curious. So you start purposely searching for more.....Before you know it, it's been a hour, people are wondering what happened to you and your on the floor in the bathroom, in a ball, sobbing "where did it all go wrong".....

Ok maybe not that dramatic. But it really brings your morning pep down! When I say pep I mean coffee buzz.

I won't gross you out with my findings, but lets just say purdy just don't happen anymore.

I guess chin hairs are next! WooHoo!

I'm Just A Girl

I was the girl who always had a ton of stickers on her stuff. The more the glitter all the better! I stumbled upon a website that can turn my regular photos into cutesy pics. (Blingee. ) I seriously need a 12 step program here!

Now if your one of my myspace friends, you know all too well of this obsession.

Blingee has cool backgrounds for the photos, glitter, animation, props, and even contests! You should see some these that are entered. Artistic! My designs more for fun and laughs than anything.
They are great for a more fun type of scrapblogging or just print them out and you have cute wall hangers for the kids room!

Heres a few:

The two youngest

My middle son

Hubby in all his glory

The glam me

The spoiled princess in me

Hubbys bike

My oldest wasn't into making fun of himself, but thats ok he's at that age. We all had a blast making our alter egos. Wyatt's still trying to find his hat and sunglasses.......

"It's Hard To Talk When You're Tea-Bagging"

Its hard to say whether or not they actually knew what they were talking about. But I'm floored. Just speakless. Are they outta touch eldery and seriously meant nothing or dirty old men trying to be funny?

To laugh or not to laugh? You be the judge.

Scoot Over Boys Momma Going To School!

I have decided to go back to school! I've tried this before and well, I have nothing to show for it. But this time I think will be different, hopefully. No, I know it will be. You know how I know?? I'm not in my 20's. *sad face*

First time I wanted to go I didn't because:

I wanted to go to the U of A for journalism but, I got married right out of high school to my 2 yr long boyfriend. (He was a couple grades higher than me). We had gone out for about half my Soph yr when he graduated and went off to be in the military. We wrote a lot and he came down quite a bit. But it wasn't a real relationship ( I now understand). Don't know why we got married really... Seemed like a good idea at the time. It wasn't even a real wedding, its was like I was knocked up or running away! We had in the court house in jeans. No parents, though mine did have to give permission since I was a minor. Nor a real marriage, he was always gone... 4days away on duty 2 days home. (Mind you this was in a different state I knew no one) When he finished his life as a Marine he finished me too. We were divorced.... Lets just call this reason stupidity.

Second time:

I just had my oldest Anthony, I had dreams of becoming a Pharmacist... Not sure why, money I guess. I got a year in and found out I was pregnant again! They're 16 months apart. It was just too hard juggling that.

Third time:

Boys were a little older and I really wanted my "Accounting career" to get started. Yes I changed my mind. Again. First day of class I get in a car accident, bad omen. That whole year seemed like I was constantly struggling just to get to school. Or to have the time to study.

I am very fortunate in that I haven't had to work those years. I have worked, just for "fun" though. Staying home all day long sometimes you need a little break. But Hubbys work comes first, and the kids are my priority. I've even gotten fired for that. But I move on.
Ooo I should make a post on all the off the wall jobs I've done.....Hmmm...

Anyway, I'm very excited this time. The kids are growing up so fast and need me a little less so I think it's great timing. I will be doing it online of course. Like I said my family is my priority and I can't be running off everyday. This house would fall apart! Or I'd like to think so anyway. Its a three day week which is good. I'm thinking web design since I'm soo fascinated with it.... I just filled out my application to the school so theres step one. Woo Hoo!

I've Loved Every Product I've Ever Used!

Of course that statement is false. But apparently now they will be monitoring what we mommy bloggers say about products. Because as many of us know if something we buy is a waste of money for what ever reason we're gonna say it loud and proud. They say on average if a person likes a product or service they maybe tell 3 friends. But if they dislike them they tell all. Which I can see as being true.

I've offered up my blog to advertisers, as you can see on the left hand side. But heres the thing you get like pennies to do so, if I absolutly can not find one good thing to write about their product I'm not going to applaud it. I think I speak for most bloggers. We aren't going to lie to our friends blog or not. Paid or not. Period.

Now, I heard on a "news show" (I won't name)this morning, they will be checking mommy bloggers for positive reviews. And stop us if we don't?? I went to their website to gather more info on this and like always I can not find it! I even scanned the web to see if anything popped up and nothing... I know I heard what I heard.

Anyone else hear anything on this??

Give This Momma Some Ginkgo!

There it was 8pm Saturday night, eggs were boiled, kids were actually considering going to sleep early ( I said considering) and I was anxious to get this night over with.... When one of my kids whines "When we gonna color tha eggs"

Oops! Ok I get my butt up to prepare everything and I had not a drop of food coloring! You may ask , "how did you not prepare yourself for this!" In my defense our plans were to go to my sisters to color the eggs. But, it was hailing. Yes I said hailing in Az. Plus it was also raining, it being an outdoor event, she cancelled. So I just assumed I had some. I bake so much I'm stunned I was out! Of course now I use the gel since it lasts longer and doesn't thin out.

Back on topic, what was I soppose to do? It would be 10p by the time we got back if we went to town. So this "crafty" mom, and I use that term loosely, decides to use art paint! Of course now their inedible, but they got to paint their eggs and thats the best part, right? So here is our "art fest"......

Can I count this towards Art Class Hmmmmmm.

First is Caties Easter hair, Fabbbbbulous made completly EZ hairstyles from
The Story of a Princess and Her Hair
Believe me if I can anyone can! Even has video!

I take such Horrible pictures! Sorry.

Thank goodness for Bounty!

Trying so hard to make some sort of design with this runny stuff!

So yummy looking right?

All in all, we of course, had a blast! After all it's not really about the painting or the toys or even the food. Its about sharing this blessed event with the ones you love. Remembering the amazing event of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Not only acknowleding it but praising it. Feeling humbled by it. To know that such a Love exists.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

You've Awoken A Sleeping Giant... "MOM'S"......

And we don't get much sleep to begin with so watch out!

I received this email today:

Dear Parents,

You have probably seen the news that the State of Arizona is facing major budget shortfalls and the state legislature is in the process of cutting the state’s budget by $3,000,000,000. That’s not a typo it is $3 billion in cuts, with a hefty amount targeting education spending.

There is something you can do about it.

On Tuesday April 21st, concerned parents just like you are holding a rally at the State Capitol to let our lawmakers know how important it is to fully fund distance learning in Arizona and to not cut our funding.

I strongly encourage you to attend and to bring your children to this very important event. There will be free t-shirts and lunch all provided by Arizona Parents for Education. Our state lawmakers will also be there and they need to hear our voices.

To RSVP click this link:
blah blah blah! I received it from my kids virtual academy....

I don't understand what the heck they're doing over there?? Education is the last place they need to cut from. Right? I guess its so the next generation is too dumb to question the big guys. So while my kids are dumming down, CEO's are having big bonuses and lavish weekend getaways!

While the pen is mightier than the sword, having my butt have to wake up extra early to drive to Phoenix is well.. you can imagin.

What are we soppose to do, roll over and say "thank you Mr. Government sir."

And that "stimulus" misleading piece of toliet paper, why didn't EDU get a piece. It's not like they didn't know they might fall short on the budget, or maybe it was just for the "special needs" group. Cause I'll tell you Barney Frank seems real "special needs" if ya know what I mean!

So while Obamas out "campaigning" or apologizing for the big mean bully (U.S.) or denouncing our faith as a nation we're here losing our future....

What happened to "promote the general welfare"?

So that leaves me with also mentioning this:

You've probably already heard of it. But just in case, I thought this would be a good place to share it.

Just some facts:
Tarp = $750 Billion
Stimulus = $870 Billion
2009 Deficit = $1.75 Trillion
U.S. Dollar = WORTHLESS!

My Homemade Award To All!!

I came across this idea just yesterday while writing to the ladies at the Suite Life of Lucy and Ethel. I have so many of your lovely blogs I read, I wanted to give you an award that said just that! So please all of you accept this "homemade" award with my deepest thanks!

Mr. Tax and His Family

This is a story about the ever so used, ever so popular, ever so needed "Mr. Tax" and his family. The Tax Family begins their journey in a forest. The worker who cuts down the tree has Tax come out of his check. This is Payroll Tax. The company that hired the worker had another one of his family members taken away he is Business Tax. Again we see Payroll Tax when we meet the trucker who delivers the tree to a plant. And once again we see Business Tax and Payrol Tax at the plant. Once the lumber is ready to be delivered to a site we see our old friend Payroll with the other truck driver. Finally it's at the store ready for the builder and we meet Sales Tax. Once the finished house is ready, we meet another Tax, Real Estate Tax. Are we done yet...of course not, more of Mr. Tax's Family awaits....When the homeowner receives a yearly letter we meet Property Tax. And finally when we die we'll still have a Tax to see... The Death Tax.

After that??? It's sold again and we get to meet all those Tax Family members all over again.

One tree. Thousands of dollars.

"Mommy, what's Easter?"

"How come bunnies only lay eggs on Easter?" "And why do we paint them" "Will our bunnies lay eggs?" Why does the "Easter Bunny give us stuff like Santa?" And how does it all tie in to being the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ?

Ya know what, I have no clue! But I know who does... this wonderful tool we all use... the web!
So before I start telling my kids the answers to some of those questions I thought I'd look 'em up! If you don't know well ya might after reading this post.

Lets start with the easiest 'What is Easter?'

It's the Christians way of celebrating of the Resurrection of Christ, but it pre dates Christianity so theres more...
Easter derives its name from Eostre a goddess of spring.

'Where do the eggs come from?'
Apparently eggs were prohibited during lent in Medieval Europe so they would boil them to preserve. So they were the main meal for Easter and gifts for children and servants.
Also, because spring brings new life and eggs are considered symbols of fertility they went together nicely.
Some Christians would paint the eggs bright red to symbolize the blood of Jesus.

"Why is there a bunny?"
Again they symbolize fertility. Germans were the first to initiate the bunny laying the eggs for children to find them. The immigrants from Germany who settled in Pennsylvania brought this tradition with them.

So I guess I found out a little. Its about celebrating the new life of all on this beautiful planet. Thats kinda neat......

I love finding all my answers with the click of the mouse! Now when the kids ask "but why" in that whinny voice, I can sit them down and have them read the many pages I just printed out for them. Score one for Momma! Maybe I'll quiz them too.... Just kidding. I love the childs endless fascination with everything. Its a new world for them and just because I've settled on the old fashioned "Just because" doesn't mean I have to let them. Plus look, I learned something too!

Now to find where the heck they came up with 'Baby New Year'..........

Our Lord and Savior,
We thank thee for bearing that cross for us. For showing your love for us. Through you we have life. With you we are strong. You are the begining and you are the ending. Lord we ask you to bless those less fortunate and forgive those who do not know you, for they will. Thank you Lord for our many blessings. I ask that you cover us all in your blood. In your name I pray. Amen.
